Can I use the Vocabulary Assessor to list all words in a document?

Yes, the Vocabulary Assessor can be used to list all the words in a document, by just reading the entire file, and displaying the words.

The Assessor can display the words in either of two sequences ...

in either alphabetic order and/or frequency of occurrence order.

How can I use the Vocabulary Assessor to list only difficult words?

To do this requires the Vocabulary Assessor have access to an appropriate “Word List”. The Word List needs to contain all the words that you can reasonably assume the targeted readers will have mastered, I.e. will understand their meanings when encountered in normal running narrative.

The Assessor compares each word in your material with those in the Word List, identifying and displaying any and all document words not present in the Word List. These are potentially difficult words for the targeted readers.
