Note: This is not to be confused with the identification of “difficult” words made by both Dale-Chall and Spache formulas. The Vocabulary Assessor’s identification is not tied to any particular readability formula. Words identified as difficult by the Assessor are so appraised relative to a targeted grade level specified by you the user.

 

 

With both our Readability Calculations and Readability Plus packages, we include -- FREE, at no charge -- an important piece of software called the Prep Program.  In instances where your material to be scored is highly formatted, contains titles, headings, illustrations..., or special characters not represented on the standard keyboard -- the Prep Program can save you great amounts of time “purifying” (editing) the text before inputting it into the readability software.

 

Though this step is not absolutely required, we highly recommend it to ensure the validity of any subsequent readability formula calculations.
